Marine Rudder Propeller / Marine Bow Thruster / Marine Azimuth thruster
Product Description
General Introduction
In the field of ship navigation, the marine bow thruster (side thruster) plays a crucial and significant role. As an auxiliary device for ship steering, it is generally installed in the transverse duct at the bow of the ship. When the electric motor drives the propeller to rotate, the propeller rapidly discharges the water on one side to the other side. Then, by utilizing the reaction force of the water, it skillfully helps the ship to achieve the steering operation.
It is worth noting that the installation position of the marine bow thruster is not limited to the bow, and it can also be installed at the stern. This flexible installation method endows the ship with a strong ability to generate lateral thrust. In restricted water areas such as ports, where the maneuvering of the ship is extremely difficult, with the help of the bow thruster, the ship can easily change its hull angle, effectively improving the maneuverability of the ship in complex environments. It greatly enhances the operational safety and convenience during berthing, unberthing, and navigation in narrow waterways.
The propeller of the marine bow thruster usually adopts a variable pitch design. This design has obvious advantages, and there is a wide variety of choices for its power sources, which can be electric motors, hydraulic motors, or diesel engines. Through a carefully matched gear reduction ratio, these power sources can drive the propeller to operate stably and efficiently, and precisely adjust the rotational speed and pitch of the propeller to adapt to different navigation conditions and operational requirements.
