Marine windlass mooring winches are divided into hydraulic drive and electric drive. The hydraulic pump provides power to the system, drives the hydraulic motor to operate, and then transmits it to the pinion gear installed at the end of the motor shaft.
The large gear is connected to the main shaft, and the main shaft rotates to push the gypsy wheel through a manual proportional valve, controlling the forward and reverse rotation, acceleration and deceleration of the hydraulic motor to complete anchoring and weighing work.
It is equipped with a warping barrel on one side, which adds greater convenience for berthing and docking of ships.

Electric tow winches for boats mainly consist of an electric motor, a speed reducer, a drum, a brake, and a control system. The working principle is as follows:
• Power output: When the electric motor is powered on, it generates rotational power, which serves as the primary source of power for the winch. The motor typically has a high rotational speed but relatively low torque.
• Speed reduction and torque increase: A speed reducer (such as a gearbox) lowers the high rotational speed of the motor while increasing its torque. The gear ratio of the speed reducer determines the size of the output torque, allowing the drum to obtain sufficient torque to tow or moor heavy objects after the speed reduction.
• Drum winding: The drum is connected to the output shaft of the speed reducer and rotates under the action of torque. One end of the steel cable is fixed to the drum; as the drum turns, the steel cable is wound or released, thus achieving the towing or mooring operation of the vessel. The diameter and length of the drum determine the capacity of the steel cable and the number of winding layers.
• Braking and control: The brake stops the rotation of the drum when needed to fix the position of the vessel or prevent heavy objects from slipping unintentionally. The control system manages the start, stop, forward and reverse rotation, and speed of the electric motor. Operators can achieve precise control of the winch through control buttons, remote controls, or automated control systems to meet various towing and mooring requirements.
