The advantages of a free-fall lifeboat are evident in its rapid evacuation process during emergencies.
It swiftly slides from the ship or facility's ramp, ensuring a high forward momentum away from the source. Passengers remain safe and secure in the enclosed cabin, firmly strapped to ergonomically designed seats. The lifeboat system exhibits robustness, capable of withstanding challenging conditions such as high winds, large waves, and extreme weather.
Free Fall Lifeboat widely used
Tossable lifeboats are typically situated at the ship's stern. In the event of an emergency, the crew can embark on the lifeboat, initiating a direct escape from its storage location. The launching mechanism comprises a maritime davit, incorporating elements like a boom, frame, platform, pendant, suspension pulley, and noose/lashing device, coupled with a marine winch equipped with reduction gear, handbrake, and centrifugal brake.
